Brameast Family Health Organization

We are a congenial group of 12 Physicians ( 4 males and 8 females) of a wide range of ages and interests.. We believe that we can teach residents how to survive in the Ontario medical world in 2010 and beyond. We have a winning formula of mutual respect and fun and strive to provide excellent comprehensive patient care. Our group was started 35 years ago by Dr. Erik Braaten and Dr. Alvin Kelly and has gradually grown to our present size. We have RN’s, RNA’s, a palliative care RN, a business manager and wonderful reception staff. We are looking forward to moving to our new location on North Park Drive as of April 1, 2011 where there will be free parking!

Our group provides full comprehensive care to over 15,000 patients. 5 of our 12 physicians provide intrapartum care. All of us do prenatal and postnatal care and have hospital privileges to do full MRP care for our patients admitted to Brampton Civic Hospital. All physicians provide palliative care in collaboration with our palliative care nurse specialist.  Each of us does hospital rounds for the group on a weekly rotating basis when it is our weekend on call.
We provide Walk-In service to our rostered patients Monday to Friday 3-730 pm and on the weekend days patients are seen in the office in the afternoons. We became a Family Health Network in 2004 and are now a Famil
y Health Organization. We converted to full EMR with the P and P system in June 2005.

We have physicians who have expertise in ER medicine, Travel Insurance medicine, Ethics, Practice Management, Surgical Assisting and Palliative care. We have a PBSG group which the whole group takes part in and our residents enjoy. We also help each resident create his/her own roster of patients under supervision of a preceptor. Most of our physicians participate in teaching.

From May 1995 until Jan 2009, we have taught over 100 students from University of Toronto. We have been teaching with McMaster since the FMTC started in Brampton in 2008 and continue to learn with our residents.
