BramMed Doc

Our office is located in a busy medical building containing more than two dozen family physicians, several specialists, a lab, diagnostic imaging facility, physiotherapy and a pharmacy. It is conveniently located in Brampton within 10 minutes to one of Ontario’s largest community hospital, Brampton Civic Hospital as well as the newly opened Peel Memorial Centre.

Our office services our over 4000 patients within the office setting. In addition to the doctors, Dr. Gene Li and Dr. George Chou, we have as part of our team, one full time receptionist, Sandy, and two part time receptionists, Susan and Hazel. We also provide medical services to a local retirement home housing over 100 residents for the past 20 years.

I (Gene Li) have been in practice for over 31 years and have had the opportunity to serve as preceptors to students at various levels from medical students to family medicine residents. Our practices are comprehensive providing care from newborn to geriatric and the palliative. Our time is shared between the office and the retirement nursing home (below). Patients in hospital are visited on a supportive basis and housecalls are done as needed.

Having practiced for almost five years in a small northern community, I view Family Medicine as a profession where the patient – doctor relationship is paramount and allows insights into issues not available in most other areas of medicine. I believe in continual self upgrading through ongoing CME events. Residents will be afforded the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the various aspects of office based practice including office based procedures, practice management, billing and future planning. As an alumni of the McMaster Family Medicine program, I am proud to be able to be associated with the McMaster teaching program and share in the goal of allowing the FM resident to be as well prepared as possible for all aspects of community Family Practice upon their completion.
