The Central Brampton Family Health Team takes pride in being one of the oldest family practices in Brampton. We are a group of nine physicians with a philosophy of encouraging high standards of clinical care, collegiality and leadership in the community. We were one of the two original Brampton McMaster teaching sites, and have been a full fledged teaching site since 2006, and electives site prior to that. In fact, four of our colleagues originally did rotations in Brampton through the McMaster Family Medicine program, and came back to join the practice.
Our Family Health Team includes Nurse Practitioners, an RN, Social Worker, Registered Dietitian, Pharmacist and a Patient Educator. Our staff work together wonderfully, and are a real asset in making patient care flow smoothly through the office. We do prenatal and postnatal care, and look after a wide variety of patients from different cultures and ages. We use OSCAR as our Electronic Medical Records system. We moved into a gleaming new office space in 2016.
All our physicians have privileges at the Brampton Civic Hospital, and we encourage our colleagues to explore “niche” areas of expertise. Thus our practice offers a unique combination of special expertise from obstetrics, breast feeding and geriatrics, through to aviation medicine, emergency medicine, chronic care hospitalist and surgical assisting. There is also the opportunity to rotate with one of our Emergency Physicians through the MAU Clinical Decision Unit, which is a part of the Department of Emergency Medicine that manages more complex patients. One of our physicians is the Problem Based Small Group learning tutor for the Brampton Family Medicine Teaching Centre.
Students and residents at the Central Brampton Family Health Team are warmly welcomed, and will receive a balanced and thorough clinical education in a supportive and fun atmosphere that can be tailor-made to suit anyone’s needs or interests. We have been teaching students and residents for over 15 years. Being part of the future of Family Medicine is important to us.
