We are a vibrant, young group of 11 Family Physicians practising the full gamut of primary care in the scenic community of Georgetown/Halton Hills, only twenty minutes west of Brampton. While we have been teaching medical students and residents at the GMA for over twenty years, half of our group is still in the first decade of their careers. Our faculty includes former ROMP Family Medicine Preceptors of the Year and CPSO Council Award winners.
The GMA practice is situated in a newly constructed (2008) paperless facility which is outfitted with the Practice Solutions EMR featuring Apple iMacs in each exam room. We are supported on-site with additional Family Health Team staff including RNs, mental health workers, a psychometrist, a pharmacist, and health educators. Problem Based Small Group (PBSG) sessions are hosted by our physicians every two weeks.
One block away from the GMA, the Georgetown Hospital (Halton Healthcare Services) is a Family Physician run small community hospital where consultants are limited to one internist, two general surgeons, and 2 obstetrician/gynecologists. Therefore, residents will be given the responsibility of managing virtually all aspects of patient care. Residents working with our physicians will gain extensive experience in Emergency Medicine, Hospitalist medicine, Palliative Care, GP-Anaesthesia, OR assists, primary care Obstetrics, and a variety of outpatient procedures.
The GMA Family Physicians are proud to be newly affiliated with the McMaster/WOHC Family Medicine Teaching Centre, and our goal is to provide the most comprehensive of experiences for our Family Medicine residents.
